Financial Advice for Americans in Spain
Since the United States introduced the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act in 2010, ever increasing numbers of Americans have renounced their U.S. citizenship.
This increase seems to be related to FATCA, but could be related to other issues as well.
Renouncing citizenship is a pretty major step to avoid the IRS, and US citizens are likely to have thought long and hard before taking this step. The increase does, however, indicate how strongly feelings can run when dealing with the power of the Internal Revenue Service and its grasp on U.S. connected persons living abroad.
Those that left the USA a long time ago, may have found a way to deal with FATCA, with the help of Financial Advice for Americans in Spain although many still consider it a nuisance.
For recent American Expats, the regulations are simply overwhelming and, at the same time as they are dealing with relocation to a new country, a different culture, new job, an unfamiliar language, and different fiscal systems.
